In my first lecture we had a discussion about mindfulness meditation. We talked about how technology, in particular social media, impacts our daily lives. In the second half of the lecture the lesson was centred around Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs). We had an insight into looping on soundtrap, and how this may be utilised in possibilities of music education.

Mindfulness meditation isn't just about finding inner peace; it can also benefit music education in many ways. Imagine staying focused and engaged while practicing your instrument or composing on a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). Mindfulness helps us navigate the digital distractions that come with social media, allowing us to stay present in our music-making process. Speaking of social media, it's a double-edged sword for musicians and music educators. Sure, it's a platform for self-expression and sharing our musical journeys with the world. Platforms like YouTube have revolutionised music education, offering an abundance of reliable resources at all times, which may be helpful for students.

DAWs, specifically Soundtrap. These digital playgrounds open up endless possibilities for music composition regarding music education. From exploring different genres to navigating through MIDI and audio files, Soundtrap makes the composition process accessible and enjoyable. It is easily accessible and the website is easy to navigate making it a great choice for beginners (like myself ) in digital music composition.

But what exactly are MIDI files, and how do they differ from audio files? Well, MIDI files are like musical blueprints, offering flexibility and scalability for composers. On the other hand, audio files preserve the raw recordings of performances, capturing every nuance and emotion.

Now, let's dive into the world of DAW templates. These pre-made arrangements are an inspiration for composers. Whether you're looking to kickstart your creative process or experiment with new sounds, DAW templates have got you covered. They offer a starting point for exploration, allowing composers to customise and tailor them to fit your creative vision.
