In our recent lecture on technology in music education, we delved into the captivating world of video production. The session offered a dynamic blend of theory and practice, allowing us to grasp the details of capturing musical performances through multiple angles and lighting techniques. One of the highlights of the lecture was the in-depth exploration of various camera angles and their impact on the viewer's experience. From wide shots to close-ups, the lecturer demonstrated how each angle contributes to the narrative and emotional resonance of a musical performance. Through hands-on practice, we learned the intricacies of camera positioning and framing, gaining valuable insights into the art of visual storytelling.

Moreover, we were given access to professional-grade camera equipment, including high-resolution film cameras capable of capturing stunning 4K footage. Paired with innovative LED studio lights, we had the tools necessary to create a high-quality video. This hands-on experience not only familiarised us with industry-standard gear but also instilled a sense of confidence in our ability to produce professional-quality content.

We got the opportunity to film a podcast in celebration of International Women's Day. With our newfound knowledge of camera techniques and lighting principles, we successfully filmed a video about the achievements and struggles of women. By capturing the podcast from three different angles, we sought to convey the multifaceted nature of the discussion and amplify the voices of our female counterparts. Reflecting on the session, it's evident that video serves as a powerful tool in music education. Beyond its role as a means of documentation, video enables us to engage learners in a dynamic and immersive learning experience. By leveraging visual media, educators can cater to diverse learning styles and foster a deeper understanding of musical concepts. As a former HSC student, my high school didn't provide the best camera equipment for my music recordings. however i engaged in the practice of reviewing my own performances and self reflecting on them. As a result, this made me realise how this can be used as a valuable learning tool for students like myself.

Furthermore, the behind-the-scenes process of video production offered invaluable insights into the complexities of collaboration and teamwork. From coordinating camera angles to adjusting lighting settings, we gained a newfound appreciation for the meticulous planning and execution required to bring a vision to life. Our exploration of video production in music education has broadened our horizons and equipped us with valuable skills for the modern world. As we continue our journey as music educators, we will undoubtedly harness the power of video to inspire, educate, and empower future generations of musicians.
